Orientation Program on Drugs, HIV and AIDS

Naya Goreto in collaboration with Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) organized orientation classes on Drug and HIV in various schools and colleges from March to July 2013. For the first time with a continuous advocacy of NG, LSMC/Social Welfare Division has allocated budget for organizing this kind of social welfare program in Lalitpur. This noble initiative of LSMC has help to re-integrate drug users in social awareness campaigns. In four months of time, drug users involved in orientation programs were able to oriented  78 schools and colleges of Lalitpur City.

Recently Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) has extended the period of MOU with Naya Goreto for another six month as a part of government mechanism of LSMC/ Social Welfare Division to mobilize the drug user’s community at social welfare sector. This program will give emphasis on parental education especially to the mothers group on the drug use trend in up growing children. This program will also further conduct the training programs for school/ college students to prevent them from drug, HIV and AIDs and other blood borne diseases. The main objective of this program is to empower and re integration the drug users in society by conducting different social programs. For the implementation of the proposed objective, the organization aims to conduct orientation program in more than 70 women’s group and 60 different school/college of Lalitpur district.
