Comprehensive package for IDUs

Naya Goreto in the financial support of UNDP completed a five months project effective from 1st March to 31st July 2006 with project titled Media Advocacy on Harm Reduction under Comprehensive Package for IDUs. The main objective of the project was to disseminate information on the importance of Harm Reduction to media personnel as well as to advocate them on creating an enabling environment for Harm Reduction services in Nepal. During the project Naya Goreto successfully advocated 55 media personnel and 243 participants including government officials, stakeholders, students, community leaders and policeman throughout the nation i.e. Dhangadi, Mahendranagar, Pokhara, Biratnagar and Kathmandu.

Naya Goreto in the financial support of UNDP completed a six months project effective from 1st November 2006 to 30th April 2007 with project titled Media Sensitization on Harm Reduction under Comprehensive Package for IDUs. The main objective of the project was to sensitize media personnel on the issues of HIV/AIDS and the need of Harm Reduction for the prevention. The project has reached 152 media personnel including press journalist, FM journalist, TV journalist, celebrities, journalism students and partner organization.

Naya Goreto in the financial support of UNDP completed a fourteen months project effective from November 2007 to December 2008 with project titled ?Media Specific Program in Combating with HIV/AIDS? under Comprehensive Package for IDUs. Naya Goreto successfully conducted 2 days media trainings in 9 districts (Dhangadi, Pokhara, Chitwan, Dharan, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Jhapa, Bhairahawa, Birgunj) and trained 229 media personnel and developed 9 district media strategy, 9 FM program and A National Media Conference on HIV and AIDS.

UNDP supported Comprehensive Package for IDUs of 8 months from 1st January 2009 to 31st August 2009. Naya Goreto in support of UNDP developed and broadcasted 26 different series of FM programs of Naya Paila. The program reached 42 districts of Nepal and helped to inform the general people on the issues of HIV and AIDS. NG formulated District Media Strategy in nine districts in previous project. In this project NG conducted follow up programs for monitoring and evaluating on the implementation of district media strategy and formed a Media Coordination Group in 3 district ( Jhapa, Parsa and Chitwan). The orientation conducted by NG to the network members helped to link media with the networks.2nd National Media Conference on HIV and AIDS was successfully conducted with the formation of a concrete National Media Coordination Committee of 13 members following the 8 point declaration on HIV and AIDS developed during 1st National Media Conference. The project was able to reach 266 media personnel. 99 Network members, 73 stakeholders and 10 participants form Government organizations.
