Advocacy for balanced policy and strategy development for drug use and response to HIV in nepal

Naya Goreto in the financial support of UNESCO/DOI and in technical support of The Mainline Foundation initiated a project Advocacy for Balanced Policy and Strategy Development in Nepal to incorporate Harm Reduction issues in the constitution. The duration of the project was 12 months which started on 1st December 2009 to 30th November 2010. Altogether Naya Goreto trained 73 Constituent Assembly (CA) members on Harm Reduction issues and advocated 171 members from different parties including Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist, CPN UML and other parties of Nepal. The major objective of the program was to train the CA members and other parliamentarians on Harm Reduction issues so that harm reduction approach is incorporated as a public health issue securing human rights.
