Contract between UNODC, Naya Goreto and Dristi Nepal

Naya Goreto (NG) recently signed a contract with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on 31st December 2010 for implementing the Project “Comprehensive Harm Reduction Services to Female Injecting Drug Users. The duration of the project is for one year which will commence on 1st January 2011 to 15 December 2011. The project will be implemented in Kathmandu District and Dharan by a NGO working for the welfare of Female Injecting Drug Users, Dristi Nepal in close supervision of Naya Goreto. The main objective of the project is to provide services to the female drug users through establishment of a Drop In center so as to prevent them from transmitting HIV and other blood borne diseases. The project intends to empower the female drug users as well through conduction of different awareness raising programs and capacity building programs.

Recently Naya Goreto has re-contracted with UNODC for the project “Prevention of Transmission of HIV among the Injecting Drug Users of Nepal” on 2nd December, 2010.

Step forward in the field of TB/HIV

Naya Goreto has put its step forward in the field of TB/HIV issues.NG was selected as one of the implementing gencies of the Global Fund grant to implement TB/HIV program. It is expected that NG is soon signing a contract with NTC/GF by December.

Follow Up Program on the District Media Strategy

In the month of May Naya Goreto conducted Follow up Program on the District Media Strategy of Jhapa district. After the 2 days media training and 1st National Media Conference on HIV and AIDS no monitoring and evaluation was done in the implementation and the effectiveness of the District Media Strategy. It was the first evaluation on the implementation of the District Media Strategy. In the month of June NG is planning to conduct follow up program on the District Media Strategy of Parsa.
